I am pleased to announce the election of our new North Central Chapter Chair, Clinton Walker, and the reelection of Secretary Lori Scuitte. Clinton and Lori were elected at our April meeting to serve two year terms. Please join us in congratulating and thanking Clinton for volunteering and accepting his new role as chapter chair and to Lori for her continued willingness to serve as secretary. Both Clinton and Lori are long term members and supporter of our chapter and have stepped up to help numerous times over the years. Our chapter will continue to accomplish amazing goals under their direction.
I am grateful for my nine years as the North Central Chapter Chair. During those nine years we’ve made many strides and fought many battles. In particular, I am very proud of our 2012 campaign to include LGBT protections in Salina’s anti-discrimination ordinance. While the protections were not long lasting, we had a clean and honest campaign and brought LGBT protections to the headlines in north central Kansas and statewide. We also hosted Salina’s very first Gay Pride, now in its 4th year, and celebrate three consecutive years of mayoral proclamations naming June as LGBT Pride Month in Salina. While I am stepping down as chapter chair, I will remain active in our chapter and with the state organization as the EQKS State Chair. Thank you to everyone that’s been a part of our organization over the years!
DON’T FORGET – we have our monthly chapter meeting 7:00 pm tomorrow, Thursday, May 12th, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 901 Beatrice, Salina, Kansas. Please plan on attending and welcoming Clinton in his new row as Chapter Chair.
FORMER Chair, North Central Chapter
