BREAKING: Marriage Fights Could Start Again

This morning the United States Supreme Court refused to hear an appeal of Pidgeon v City of Houston, Texas.  In Pidgeon, the Texas state supreme court ruled that same-sex couples are not automatically entitled to the same marital benefits, such as spousal heath care, as opposite-sex couples.

The US Supreme Court’s action this morning allows the Texas court’s ruling to stand.  We do not know yet what the impact will be on Kansas; although the Pidgeon case is specific to Texas, anti-LGBT government officials in Kansas could be emboldened to mistreat and discriminate against us based on our sexual orientation and relationship status.

IMPORTANT:  If you are denied access to services because of your marriage status, in or by the State of Kansas, please let us know immediately!  Call our office at 316-683-1706, or write us at info@eqks.org

We will keep you posted as we learn more.
