Meeting was called to order at 7:04 PM.
The minutes from the prior meeting were approved by unanimous vote.
Chair report: Luc was awarded the “Making the Difference” award by the BTAC conference. Luc spoke about his experiences at the conference, including panels, support, vendors, bonding, and meeting trans-men from other countries. Planning has begun for next year, for the conference to be 4/24 to 4/30, with Luc to present on being a Person of Color/physically challenged and trans, but this time to make it a panel discussion. Luc asked for input on building relationship between Black Transmen Inc., and EQKS.
Vice-chair report: Scott Fieker, from the Lawrence transgender support group, was the featured speaker at the PFLAG meeting on April 3rd, 2-4 pm, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He seemed quite knowledgeable, and took numerous questions from the small audience. Tom Witt also spoke at the most recent PFLAG meeting on lobbying for Equality. Benedette agreed to investigate having a bowling fund-raiser for late July.
Treasurer: Per Stephanie M., beginning balance was $163.85 and $51.63 was spent on food for the chapter conference, resulting in a final balance of $112.22
Chapter conference was April 3rd, in Salina, per Stephanie. Discussion focused on candidates and strategies for the upcoming elections, pending bills, and the rally. Stephanie suggested that trans-people with concerns about voting check the National Center for Transgender Equality web page, for information on the subject. (Transequality.org) or the KSTEP page, at kstep.org
Equality Efforts: We discussed the current status of Equality efforts in Topeka.
Topeka Pride meeting will be May 23rd, 6pm, at the UUFT.
Trans-Kansas #4 will be located in Topeka, August 26th & 27th.
