End Time: May 21 2008 2:00AM

Location: UFM Learning Center
Address: 1221 Thurston St., Manhattan, Kansas 66502

Please join a group of area residents in viewing a special screening of the documentary ANYONE AND
EVERYONE on Tuesday, May 20 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the UFM Building (1221 Thurston St., Manhattan). This will be the premier screening of the documentary in Kansas.

Connected by having a son or daughter who is gay,
parents across the country discuss their experiences
in the documentary ANYONE AND EVERYONE. Filmmaker
Susan Polis Schutz depicts families from all walks of
life, from such diverse backgrounds as Japanese,
Bolivian, and Cherokee, as well as from various
religious denominations such as Mormon, Jewish, Roman
Catholic, Hindu, and Southern Baptist, share intimate
accounts of how their children revealed their sexual
orientation and discuss their responses. The parents
also talk about struggling with the pain of their sons
and daughters dealing with not being accepted by
relatives or friends, and being ostracized by
religious congregations. This film is especially
important since up to 26% of gay teens who come out to
their parents or guardians are told they must leave
home. Of the approximately 1.6 million homeless
American youth, 20-40% identify as lesbian, gay,
bisexual, or transgender. The film also depicts
meetings of PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of
Lesbians and Gays) where people get support and help.

A discussion will follow the screening, facilitated by
Christopher Draven of Lawrence who serves as Media
Chair for the Kansas Equality Coalition.

This event is sponsored by the Riley / Geary County
Chapter of the Kansas Equality Coalition. The Kansas
Equality Coalition (KEC) is the state’s largest gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgendered nonpartisan
coalition.
